Montreuil is a pretty town, with cobbled streets and squares, and boasts a fine collegial church, where there are choral concerts throughout the year.

It is also the headquarters of the Wine Society in France, which, apart from selling a fine range of French wines, at lower tax prices, organises tasting and dinners from time to time.

A walk on the old remparts of the town is a must and there is a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and bars. We are fond of ‘Le Darnetal’ which offers ‘cuisine bourgeoise’ and also the ‘Auberge de la Grenouillere’, which is a Michelin starred restaurant offering fine dining and an excellent wine list in an old Picardy farmhouse, with its famous ‘frog frescoes’, at reasonable prices for the high standard and creative cooking on offer.

The town organises a variety of ‘events’ throughout the year and details can be obtained from the tourist office.
