St Omer is a fine town with a fine Cathedral, which is well worth a visit, where there are choral and organ concerts from time to time, many of them featuring English choirs and musicians.

There are also a number of interesting museums, including one with a fine collection of shellfish (coquillages).

The Christmas lights in the Town Hall square are especially noteworthy and well worth seeing.

Again, there is a wide choice of restaurants, cafes and bars. Our favourite restaurant is ‘Le Cygne’ with excellent cooking, offering seasonal dishes, and fine wines in an old merchant’s house in a quiet square.

There are also some very good shops and near to St Omer, you will find a very good supermarket belonging to the ‘Auchan’ group, selling a wide range of merchandise in addition to food and drink products. Again, worth a visit!
